Mechabellum

Mechabellum is an auto-combat game in which we lead squads of mechs into battle. It was developed by the independent studio Game River and published by Paradox Arc an affiliate of Paradox Interactive dedicated to helping indie developers create and publish their games. Mechabellum is set in a sci-fi universe, more specifically, on a recently colonized planet aptly named Far-Away. We play as the commander of a mech squadron, who is tasked with confronting competitors and capturing as much territory as possible.

The gameplay of Mechabellum revolves around battles between squads of mechs. Each mech has its own strengths and weaknesses, so the player must carefully build their units so that they complement each other. We can also customize the combat capabilities of each individual vehicle according to our needs and preferences. The player can use light, agile but fragile units like the Wasp starfighter, or powerful, durable but slow vehicles like the giant Vulcan. After creating our small army, we must deploy it and start the battle.

We cannot control the swords directly. However, we can influence the course of the battle by calling in air strikes or swarms of small bots as reinforcements; skillful use of these abilities can tip the balance in our favor. Although Mechabellum can be played in single player against AI-controlled units, the game was designed primarily for competitive and cooperative multiplayer. The visual design of Mechabellum is colorful and easy to read. The mech design and particle effects that accompany the shots are especially attractive.
