Unturned combines a zombie shooter and a sandbox with survival elements. In single player, the user explores locations, destroys the undead, and searches for useful loot. In multiplayer, the user does about the same thing, but also fights with living opponents. There is also a separate battle royale mode. Players who kill other gamers for no reason become bandits. You can become a hero by shooting criminals. Katanas, bats, axes, chainsaws, and golf clubs are used in close combat. Firearms are represented by a Colt, shotgun, AK-47, screw cutter, double-barreled shotgun, bow, M4, crossbow, and other guns. Upgrades are allowed on the barrels: a laser pointer, an extended clip, an optical sight, a silencer, a flashlight.

Unturned has transport. Cars require gasoline and can explode if hit accurately. In addition to travel and shootouts, there is crafting and construction. You can hunt animals or fish. It is possible to build a house and grow food on its territory. Cooking allows you to prepare food. The action takes place on official levels (PEI, Washington, Yukon) or on user locations. On some servers, you can switch the camera from a first-person view to a behind-the-back angle. The indie project has 3 difficulty levels: easy, medium, and hardcore. On the latter, the interface changes and the map is disabled. The product also has pumping, skins, and loot boxes.
