Dungeons and Dragons Dragonshard invites the player to take part in the conflict for the Heart of Siberys, a powerful artifact in the war-torn world of Eberron. The gameplay is divided into two interconnected levels. On the surface, the gamer leads the armies of one of three factions in real-time strategic battles. At the same time, small squads led by heroes descend into dungeons filled with creatures and valuable rewards.

The resources and experience gained in these forays directly translate into new skills and capabilities for the ground forces, influencing the outcome of the global confrontation. In Dungeons and Dragons Dragonshard, the development of the squads includes elements of role-playing games. Individual fighters gain experience points in battles, allowing them to increase their level and improve their characteristics over time. This mechanic extends to the entire range of controlled forces: champions, heroic captains, hired assistants, and giant battle juggernauts.

Additionally, base building utilizes an innovative grid structure where the placement and choice of buildings directly impacts the strength of warriors, adding an important dimension to the strategic planning of each encounter. Originally released in 2005, the game has been adapted for compatibility with modern personal computers. Technical improvements include support for current screen resolutions, improved handling of save files and profiles, and various internal fixes to timers and physics.
