Bad Cheese is a dark adventure game that puts you in the tiny paws of a young mouse living in a deeply dysfunctional family. While your mom is away for the weekend, you must keep your unstable father happy by performing various chores such as cleaning, sweeping, making french fries, killing spiders, and delivering medicine. The game’s disturbing plot centers on maintaining your «good kid» status to avoid punishment in a house with demons and unstable family dynamics.
You’ll explore the various rooms of the house, finding scattered treats and figurines that provide brief moments of joy in an otherwise oppressive environment. The gameplay focuses on household tasks and survival rather than traditional combat, creating a unique blend of mundane activities and psychological tension. The game tackles heavy themes of childhood trauma and dysfunctional homes through the lens of anthropomorphic characters.
Developer Simon Lukasik has created a game that contrasts the innocent appearance of a small mouse with the grim reality of living in fear. A house serves as both a playground and a prison, where the search for collectibles turns into a desperate search for a normal life. Bad Cheese offers a disturbing yet compelling look at preserving childhood innocence in a toxic family structure, making it a memorable entry in narrative-driven indie games.
