Type NOISE Shonen Shojo is an adventure visual novel about six teenagers trapped in a Tokyo-like city and trying to escape while grappling with their sealed emotional traumas. Players guide the protagonist, Zena, and her companions through over 40 diverse puzzles from logical deductions and legal battles to mathematical theorem style problems each designed to unlock their sealed memories.
The game explores heavy psychological themes as the characters confront their inner demons jealousy, self-doubt, pride, and anger in surreal labyrinths of the heart filled with distorted images like hanging puppets and twisted shadows. Each character has their own flaws: Itsuki struggles with jealousy, Honoka with skepticism, Kaito with self-image issues due to facial scars, Hiyori hides behind lies as a streamer, and Soto serves as the group's moral anchor, guided by a mysterious ghost cat named Spectre.
The narrative unfolds like a suspenseful drama, and players must help the teenagers confront painful truths about themselves by solving increasingly complex puzzles that seamlessly integrate into the story. Developer DankHearts has created an emotionally charged game that combines beautiful art with psychological depth to engage players on their own journey of self-reflection and healing. The game encourages community engagement through streams and Discord discussions as players work together to escape the City of Noise Screeching.
