Subnautica 2 takes players on an underwater survival adventure on an unfamiliar alien world. Arriving as pioneers, they encounter uncertain circumstances on this distant planet. The onboard artificial intelligence insists on continuing the mission, despite signs of grave danger to life. Their continued existence depends on confronting local threats and, perhaps, redefining the very essence of humanity in these conditions. Unknown creatures, potentially intelligent, dwell in the ocean depths here.

Progressing in Subnautica 2 will require resourcefulness and adaptation to the aquatic elements. Players will need to craft essential equipment, vehicles, and unique underwater bases using discovered resources and blueprints. A revamped construction system expands the possibilities for customizing shelters. You can explore the world alone or team up with up to three other players in co-op mode, overcoming challenges together. Exploring the environment allows you to modify your character's genetic makeup, developing adaptations for improved survivability.

The game world contains various underwater zones: from coral reefs near the surface to dark depths with strange structures. Each region has a unique ecosystem inhabited by distinctive alien lifeforms. Characters use scanners and samplers to collect data and analyze the fauna, learning about their habits. The planet's disturbed balance prompts players to uncover its causes and understand their own situation. Navigating the biomes involves discovery and the need to assess danger.
