Within Static Ashburg Rental is an episodic first-person psychological horror game based on real human fears rather than supernatural specter. You play as Riley Adams, a recent graduate beginning her career as a teacher in the small town of Ashburg, where something unwelcome haunts her rented house. What begins as a peaceful rainy evening turns terrifying when Riley discovers she's not alone. This narrative-driven walking simulator emphasizes the environment and slowly building tension: you explore the house, examine objects, and communicate via the in game phone using text interactions.

The games VHS-style presentation emphasizes its grounded horror atmosphere, and microphone integration allows your voice to influence gameplay. Designed for a short, one-session experience, the game prioritizes realistic settings and psychological immersion over jump scares. Each episode of the anthology is a standalone story, ostensibly based on survivors accounts. The focus is on building tension through plausible scenarios and careful pacing, rather than relying on monsters and gore.
