Royal Lord

If you like games where you have to build a base and then defend it from waves of enemies, you should look at Royal Lord. It is coming out in 2026 and it’s a mix of a few things like RTS and tower defense. Develop ducks made it so you start with almost nothing and have to turn your small camp into a real fortress. It sounds simple but once the sun goes down, things get pretty intense. The main part of the game is managing your resources. You need to build houses for your people, gather food and find stone or wood for walls. But you can't just build forever because Royal Lord is also a survival game. Every night enemies come to test your defenses.

This is where the tower defense part kicks in. You have to place your archers and knights in the right spots or everything you built will be destroyed in a few minutes. What is cool about this game is the RTS feel. You aren't just watching towers shoot; you actually control your units and have to make quick decisions during the fight. One wrong move and your walls might fall. It feels good when you finally survive a tough night and have some time to repair your town before the next wave hits. It’s that classic loop of building during the day and fighting for your life at night.

The graphics are clean and it’s easy to see what’s going on even when there are lots of units on the screen. It is an indie game so it doesn't have thousands of complex menus which is actually nice. You can just jump in and start playing. If you enjoy strategy games where you have to think about your economy and your army at the same time, Royal Lord is a solid choice. It’s challenging but rewarding when you see your kingdom grow from a couple of huts into a giant castle.
