The feeling of utter loneliness is heightened by the detailed audio design: the rustling of branches constantly blends with inexplicable footsteps in the darkness. The aesthetic of lost video footage lends a frightening realism to the events. Horrific discoveries in the form of torn animals or bloodied bodies demonstrate the extreme level of danger. Any approach to the epicenter of activity inevitably ends in death.
The narrative centers on a lone detective investigating visitations from extraterrestrial civilizations. Arriving in a remote wilderness to investigate UFO reports, the protagonist of The Tall Man Tapes becomes hostage to a series of unexplained incidents.
