SUPER ROBOT WARS Y takes players to a tactical battlefield, uniting units and pilots from multiple anime universes. Players command mechs on an isometric map, carefully positioning them to counter enemy forces in turn-based battles. The key objective of each mission is to lead an assembled squad to victory over common enemies. This single-player title brings together heroes from various sci-fi sagas in a single, large-scale conflict, creating a richly detailed universe to explore.
Upon completion of each stage, players earn credits and resources, which they can spend on upgrading combat vehicles and preparing crews for future challenges. Experience in SUPER ROBOT WARS Y introduces the Assist Link system, which actively engages support characters. This mechanic allows them to participate in operations, enhancing their abilities and influence on the battlefield, which can dramatically change the outcome of the battle.
The game's structure pits robots and their commanders from various franchises against each other in turn-based tactical battles. These confrontations form the basis of a new, narrative-rich saga within a familiar universe. As players progress through the story campaign, they witness unique interactions and conflicts between characters whose paths would otherwise never cross. Gameplay is presented from a top-down perspective and requires skillful squad management and precise maneuvers to overcome challenges and advance the story.
