The Alters Last Variable

11 bit studios has always been good at making games that make the player feel responsible for their every decision. In 2026, they released their new project The Alters Last Variable, which once again raises the bar for the entire genre. This is a very deep science fiction story about survival on a distant and completely hostile planet where your main character finds himself in complete solitude. But the developers have come up with a very interesting way out of this situation. To survive and repair your base, you will have to create alternative versions of yourself. These copies are not just soulless robots that silently follow your orders. Each of them has their own character, their own fears and their own views on how to solve problems. This turns a regular base management simulator into a real psychological drama where the greatest danger often lurks not outside but inside your own team.

The gameplay very successfully combines elements of an adventure game strategy and even active action. Your base is a huge moving wheel that slowly crawls across the surface of the planet trying to escape the deadly sunlight. You need to constantly search for resources, go out on dangerous expeditions and risk your life for the necessary materials. It is during such sorties that the game shows its action component where you have to quickly react to environmental threats. But when you return back, the stage of complex management begins. You have to distribute tasks between your clones, monitor their morale and resolve conflicts that constantly arise between them. Each alternative version of the hero has its own strengths and weaknesses, so you need to very competently approach who to entrust this or that job to.

The Alters Last Variable is a project for those people who like smart and adult stories where there are no simple answers. The game constantly keeps you in a state of mild tension because you understand that each of your mistakes could be your last. It requires you to be able to think a few steps ahead, plan your resource spending, and most importantly, find common ground with yourself in the literal sense of the word. 11 bit studios has once again proven that it can make games that leave a strong emotional mark. This is a great opportunity to spend many evenings playing a game that respects your intelligence and gives a very fresh perspective on the space survival genre.
