Open space usually means freedom. In Grim Axiom, the new science fiction horror from studio Rare Soup, it means there is nowhere to run. The game gives players a wide map and fills it with danger, then watches how they handle both at once.

The world is yours to cross in any direction. Signals, ruins and strange structures mark the route, and the game refuses to draw the line for you. Every expedition is a small bet: how far to push, when to fall back, what to risk for one more answer. Supplies and stamina keep the walks honest, and the horizon always offers one more place worth the trip.

Threats do not wait politely. Combat arrives suddenly and asks for clean decisions: focus fire, keep moving, spend resources now or save them for the road home. The science fiction edge gives each encounter its own wrongness, as if the hostile things here were designed rather than born. Victory feels earned because it is usually partial.

The horror lives in the gaps between fights. Long silences, distant shapes and the knowledge that open ground protects nobody do more work than any monster. Tension here is positional: you are always somewhere on the map, and somewhere on the map is always watching back. That simple math keeps the pulse steady for hours.

Action, adventure and exploration share the frame without fighting for it. You choose the balance: push for story, play for safety, or chase every strange light to see what it is. Grim Axiom respects all three styles and answers each with its own surprises.

Rare Soup built a space that trusts the player. No corridor rails, no constant instructions, just a hostile land and the tools to read it. For fans of sci-fi horror with room to breathe and room to fear, this one deserves a place on the list.
