The protagonist decides to explain the secret of his unexpected move to another dimension. He embarks on an unusual journey, during which he meets many fellow travelers, learns the truth about his family and past, and also gets a chance to save both worlds.

Chrono Cross The Radical Dreamers Edition has several features that set it apart from other JRPGs. Players move not only through one map, but also through two different versions of the map, each referring to a different reality. As in Chrono Trigger, the combat here is not random skirmishes occur after the hero makes contact with an enemy while exploring. The combat system, although based on the turn-based principles known from similar Squaresoft titles such as the Final Fantasy series, is very different from them. Individual heroes, enemies, spells and items are assigned to one of the six elements.

Each of them is especially effective against one of them, but does not work well when colliding with another. Players should pay attention to this, in particular by observing which element currently dominates the board. Command attacks add depth to the system, as does the strength bar, which determines the character’s capabilities in each turn depending on its state, the hero can perform a certain number of attacks. In turn, the number of hits inflicted affects the ability to use items, spells and special moves of each of the heroes assigned to different levels, depending on their strength. In combat, the player leads a three-man squad made up of previously recruited characters. There are forty-five of them in the game world, several of which can only be recruited by making certain decisions. In addition, the developers have prepared several endings that can be unlocked at different stages of the game, depending on the choice made earlier.
