From Space: Revival is LIVE! (Full Patch Notes)

When we announced From Space: Revival earlier this month, we were blown away by the incredible response from the community. Seeing so many of you jump onto the Experimental Branch to help test our balance changes and share your thoughts was vital in helping us polish this build. Thank you for helping us bring this update across the finish line!

Today, From Space: Revival is officially live for everyone on Steam.

But wait, there’s more: While today’s update brings a massive suite of fixes and rebalances, we’re already at work on another patch with even more improvements!

We want to keep making From Space better, and community input is directly shaping what we tackle next. Have thoughts on balance, quality-of-life requests, or bug reports? Drop your feedback in our Discord or Steam Discussion boards (we're reading it all as we plan the next update).

Without further ado, here is the full changelog for today’s release!

Buddies (Recruitable NPCs)

• Buddies no longer inflate difficulty when you recruit them

• NPCs and buddies now have a standardized amount of health 

• Buddies return to full health when revived

• Buddies regenerate health after being out of combat for a short amount of time

• Incapacitated buddies now have a longer window for reviving them

• Buddies no longer wave to you while recruited (which prevented them from shooting or moving)

• Buddies now can be hit by Exploder or Buster enemy projectiles

• Fixed locations that blocked navigation for buddies and NPCs

• The buddy follow/unfollow toggle is now less fiddly and more clearly communicated

• Objective related NPCs now show a health bar and escort indicator, consistent with buddies

• Improved NPC endpoint indicators so they no longer block the path
  

Game balance

• Added save point near the heavily used metro station mini-outpost

• Activating a radio fully restores health for players and buddies

• The Revive perk can now be found or purchased in the story mode

• Improved the Energy Harvester shield and attack sequences

• Increased walking speed when carrying items during delivery missions

• The Sniper specialist unlocks a shield at level 4, improving the difficulty playing the character in relation to other specialists
  

UI improvements

• Improved communication when you “continue” based on another player's hosted savegame

• Improved the mission indicator guiding players through missions:

• More guidance throughout missions

• Prevents routing through blocked areas

• Additional steps shown during missions

• Added main mission fallbacks

• Reduced toggling between routes

• Fixed map marker to another level pointing to an incorrect location

Fixed issue where the mission log didn't show the description the first time it was opened

Mission log now shows which level the mission or task is located in

Carried item positions now update live on the map instead of only when dropped

HUD now communicates keybindings for switching weapons, map, and inventory

Changed ping/marker icon from footsteps to a marker

Increased map uncover range to match the mini-map, improving overall exploration

Mission select now opens on your active mission instead of your last selection

UX improvements

• Found and resolved navigation blockers across different maps

• In Horde mode, fixed issues with the portals in Portal Lab

• In Horde mode, added a 'Random' level select option

• In Horde mode, changed the announcer voice over and improved the instructions

• Optimized the Horde mode loadout scene

• Exploration music was interrupted too often by combat and nesting area music. Increased the enemy count required to trigger combat music, and nesting area music now switches off once a nest is cleared

• Added slight sound variation to pistol shots to make them less repetitive

• Fixed issues causing sound effects to not play
  

Technical changes

• Updated to Unity 6.3 (LTS)

• Added the ability to collect gameplay data, helping us make informed improvements to the game. An opt-out setting is available if you prefer not to participate
  

• Fixed an issue when attempting to change the weapon for certain specialist classes would trigger the steam overlay to occur and redirect the user to the additional content store page.
• Fixed an issue in the shooting range where targets do not pop-up and instead move under the floor thus preventing players from getting the gun certificate.
• Improved damage colliders for gas in lab
• Improved visual for gas in lab.
