77 Oleander Avenue — ghost House Investigation is a narrative horror game about Tubby, a paranormal investigator who wakes up in an abandoned house with no memory of where she is or why she is there. As you play, you’ll learn more about the family that once lived in the house, the mysterious circumstances of their deaths, and ultimately decide what you think of Oleander’s ghosts. The game takes place in a small coastal town in southeastern North Carolina. The game explores deep-rooted religious trauma, the nature of ghosts and demons, how we construct narratives about human death, and ponders the possibility of flirting with a supernatural orb.
On July 21, 2022, an investigator entered an abandoned house at 77 Oleander Avenue. Two hours after arriving, she lost contact with the outside world. Such are the events of that night. These are the remnants of a ghost story told for the ghost’s sake. Waking up disoriented and tired, Tabby, short for Tabitha, but she hasn’t gone by her full name since the 3rd grade, wakes up in the living room of an abandoned house. Her keys, wallet, and phone are gone, and she can’t remember why she’s in this place, not that it’s too far from some of the other places she’s woken up in over the years. It doesn’t take long for her to meet Evie, the ghost, much to Tubby’s annoyance as she was hoping to just grab her things and leave quickly. However, the house of vivacity at 77 Oleander is not Ivy’s home. This is not a place of bittersweet tragedy. This is not a skeleton left after the unexpected death of the family. Tubby will realize this too late, and then when she’s finally ready to heed Evie’s warnings, she’ll forget.
