Hello~ greetings, dear patrons! (If you don't abandon me, I'd gladly take you as my sworn father!)
Before I knew it, Three Kingdoms:Yi has been in development for six months and on sale for four.
From the first EA release to 200 achievements, nearly 100+ exclusive talents across all generals, 16 brand-new generals, the new Conquest mode, five ultimate bosses, new gameplay events, 89 meta-progression Cabinet bonuses, 8 new starting avatars, combat improvements — speed-up and hotkeys — Steam Workshop, localization, balance tuning, bug fixes, and more.
By now, most of the plans I drew up when I first started this game have come to fruition (though many designs were also abandoned — for example, gaining Coins from attack overflow, or forest/water terrain placeholder cards that didn't fit).
Along the way, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support and encouragement. It is the constant positive feedback you give me that has kept me going on Three Kingdoms:Yi until now.
🆕 New Content
👑 New Avatar · Merchant
The last brand-new avatar — the Merchant:
As before, selectable only if you pick "Start Directly" at the start to skip the intro.
The Merchant's new talents + exclusive talent:
Basic talent — Banker: every 30 Coins gained cumulatively triggers Awaken.
Exclusive talent — Amass: when attacking, every 20 Coins you hold adds +1 to this attack's damage.
Unlock: in the Codex's Neutral General tab, spend 2000 Stardust to unlock the Merchant.
New achievements: Merchant · Male (Trade and Wealth) / Merchant · Female (Red Robes Reckon) — both unlock by Awakening to Mythic quality (red).
Scholar, farmer, artisan, merchant — all four assembled! Alchemist, Shennong, Tiangong and Merchant are now all in the game.
🌐 Localization
The full release adds three language options: English / 日本語 / 繁體中文 — ready for friends at home and abroad~
How to switch: pick one under Settings → Basic Settings → Language. It takes effect immediately, and your choice is remembered (still there next launch).
Coverage: UI / talents / events / Rules Codex / achievements / update notes… all text you can read in-game follows the language, including the huge pile of rule explanations and illustrations in the Rules Codex.
Auto-generated avatar names (e.g. Lingmou, Zixiao) now follow the language too; names you type yourself stay unchanged, and old saves are corrected on load.
Shortened English names for units / talents / levels / items; fixed R kerning with adjacent letters — apologies if some optimizations made the font too small; please let us know if you see any.
Text-in-image support: all text-bearing images — the Nine Provinces map, province color blocks, faction flag faces, persuasion backgrounds, etc. — now follow the selected language.
The game logo is now localized too (simplified Chinese / English / Japanese / Traditional Chinese versions).
In particular, the character "茶卜" keeps its Chinese name in all languages.
🏺 Treasure Forge
New special event Treasure Forge: passing a treasure forge, you can spend Coins to pick a few plain iron billets, fire up the quench to raise their quality, and take them away.
The first city of every run never hosts a Treasure Forge; it starts appearing in later cities.
How quenching works:
First pick the billets you want to take from 10 plain ones — the more you pick, the more deposit you pay (from 20 Coins, doubling for each extra billet);
Press Quench to pay the deposit and start hammering: each strike raises every billet one tier, but each tier randomly destroys a few of them;
Billets climb from Mortal all the way to Mythic — the higher they go, the more they shatter;
At any time you can take the items and leave, keeping only the ones you picked at first that haven't shattered.
Treasures hide among the billets:
In every batch of 10 billets, exactly half (5) are secretly treasures;
A secretly-treasure billet lights up a Treasure Seal when it shatters, reaches Mythic, or when you press take the items and leave;
But only if it reaches Epic quality or above does it truly become a treasure item card — take it away before that and it shows no seal and only becomes a basic item card of the matching quality;
🍵 New Character · 茶卜
A new neutral general — 茶卜, who rides his donkey to deliver treasures to you in person!
He appears randomly in normal / elite battles, but not in city-end battles. When he appears, he starts the battle already deployed on the enemy's side.
His card can be Epic, Legendary, or Mythic quality, with different portraits and animations; his quality determines the quality of the treasure cards he carries.
茶卜's special talents:
Hoard: at the end of each turn, consumes one of the treasures he carries; after all three are used, he leaves on the following turn.
Bequest: when persuaded, he hands over all remaining treasure cards, but does not join your roster.
Treasure rules:
Killing 茶卜 does not grant treasures — persuade him while he still has goods if you want them.
The 3/3 counter on his card shows how many treasures he has left.
茶卜's Hoard / Bequest cannot be Silenced or copied.
New achievement The Drunken Trader: persuade an Epic, Legendary, and Mythic 茶卜 once each to earn 15 achievement points.
🎵 Cantonese MV Themes
Five new lord-exclusive Cantonese theme MVs: Cao Cao — Spear to the Sky, Liu Bei — Xuande's Hope for Han, Sun Quan — Riverbank Realm, Dong Zhuo — Burning the Palace, Liu Xie — Crown's Fading Light.
Clear Conquest Mode with the corresponding lord as commander or vice commander to unlock that lord's MV theme, then unlock and switch it in Settings → Themes for 1,000 Stardust.
When you clear Conquest Mode with one of these five lords as commander or vice commander, that lord's MV plays directly at the ending; the skip button remains in the top-right.
The five original faction-song unlock requirements are lowered: clearing Conquest Mode with any general of the matching faction as commander or vice commander now meets the prerequisite; the songs still cost 500 Stardust.
The related lord achievements now also mention unlocking the exclusive Cantonese theme MV.
⚔️ War of Attrition
To prevent battles from locking up when both sides are stacked with Armor and neither can be hurt, a new War of Attrition phase has been added.
Past turn 10, a battle enters the War of Attrition — the words "War of Attrition x1" flash once in the center of the screen.
From then on, at the end of every turn, all generals on both sides lose 1 HP each (ignoring Shield and Armor).
Every 10 further turns raises the tier again: x2 means 2 HP per turn, and so on — the longer it drags on, the deadlier it gets.
In particular, when the five faction lords' boss enters its second phase, or during the Tianming Avatar phase, the "Face the Tianming" phase, and whenever a Tianming appears in Conquest Mode, the War of Attrition turn count and battle info reset to turn 1.
🔧 Improvements
🚀 Project Improvements
Faster startup! Startup resource verification no longer reads the entire asset bundle at once; it now verifies chunks on demand. Startup is faster with a lower memory peak, while full integrity checks remain in place.
Game icon refined: the original Three Kingdoms:Yi icon was made while I was slicing art — I happened to stack all the game's status icons together, and they accidentally formed a vivid portrait of an anonymous figure. It had never been processed before, so for the full release I've refined that old image: cleaner edges, fewer stray colors, and a clearer look at taskbar size.
🎒 Improvements
Bigger bag: item carrying capacity raised from 30 to 40.
New "Discard" in the bag: press the Discard button to enter discard mode — cards get a red wash and a discard icon, and tapping any card discards it (a confirmation comes first); press the Discard button again to exit. Works in the battlefield bag and in both map bags.
Danqing Magic Brush (Respec): the point-allocation boxes can now be typed into directly — before they were display-only, now you can read and edit them; the +/- buttons' click and hold still work as before.
Floating text: when multiple stat buffs/debuffs are gained at once in battle, their floating numbers now stack on separate lines instead of overlapping.
Multiple Awakenings: when a general's Awakening triggers multiple rounds of its own Awakening, the card now shows how many Awakenings remain; if you use a new talent to overwrite the talent that triggered the multi-round Awakening in the Awakening panel, the general's remaining subsequent Awakenings of the same type will stop.
Font display: the Chinese font now includes the full glyph set as a static atlas, fixing blurry outlines / tofu blocks (empty boxes) that could appear on some cards / UI after building.
Cabinet improvements:
Cards in the Cabinet's card view now zoom on hover (centered, without the talent-status tooltip); hover feel in the Cabinet and bag lists is also smoother.
Improved Cabinet appointment rules: generals with mutually exclusive bonuses can no longer serve as Chief Strategist and Aide Strategist together. For example: Cao Cao / Liu Bei / Sun Quan / Dong Zhuo (all provide Switch Faction — only one lord's faction can be kept); Xun Yu / Cheng Yu (Camp event Loot vs. Farm); Pang Tong / Zhao Yun / Meng Huo (Drill bonuses Max HP / Speed / Attack). Dragging in a conflicting general now shows the specific reason.
🐛 BUG Fixes
Fixed shop cards losing their hover tooltip when the cursor moved over the upper half of the card.
Fixed the Merchant's Banker talent triggering only one Awakening when a large amount of Coins was gained at once — it now triggers for every threshold crossed.
Fixed Banker counting the Gamble House's full payout (including the stake) as Coins gained — only net winnings now count.
Fixed enemies with Amass also gaining damage from the player's Coins — it now only applies to the player's side.
Fixed the volume labels in Settings → Basic Settings drifting out of place after switching languages.
Fixed some labels on the Child Birth screen not following the selected language.
Fixed the settlement screen losing its divider lines, some rows (labels and counts), and showing placeholder text for the total.
Fixed persuade bubble lines for troop and avatar units not following the selected language.
Fixed old saves entering Conquest showing every province in color and every city.
Fixed old saves potentially unlocking every Conquest-clear achievement at once on clearing.
Corrected the Rules Codex count of talents supported by Mark (46 → 51).
Fixed Reset Reincarnation popup layout changes leaking into the New Game confirmation popup.
Fixed avatar Awakening talents (Reaper / Farmer / Keeper / Banker) losing their accumulated progress after quitting and reloading — progress is now kept with the save.
Fixed the five lords entering the run with their exclusive talent (e.g., Liu Bei's True Virtue) before reaching Legendary rarity in the Cabinet, which gave them three talents — lords now unlock their exclusive talent at Legendary, matching the Awakening rules.
Fixed confused units canceling their attack when the adjacent ally was stealthed — they now skip stealthed allies and keep searching for the nearest valid ally.
🏁 How Fortunate Indeed
There is so much more I want to say, but in the end 茶卜 will once again bring it down to one sentence: "Thank you so much for accompanying me all the way to v1.0.0!"
Of course, Three Kingdoms:Yi is far from over — after the full release I'll keep updating it with new generals and content (though much more slowly, and I'll probably start a new game project on the side — it should be Water Margin Tactics; please look forward to it~).
We will surely meet again on the next journey! (Join our Discord: https://discord.gg/xYHcHwH4re)
