Description

Silica is a unique combination of crossover FPS and RTS. Where three completely different factions will fight for control of one planet. Well, well, here you try on the role of a commander and immerse yourself in the gameplay alone with friends. Take the side of the human army or play as aliens. What could be better than an exciting first-person shooter and real-time strategy game? Well, except that you will have full freedom of choice and the ability to play for different factions. And if you like it when sand is stuffed into your shoes, bullets constantly fly over your head, and aliens just want to harm you, then this game is what you need. At the same time, you should not be limited to just foot soldiers, as there is still a large selection of equipment and much more. Or maybe you want to chew metal and become a collective mind? In that case, aliens that look like animals are the best choice. In addition, with their help you can easily switch between different creatures.

Key Features

  • First/third-person shooter — control any character, creature, or vehicle. You can leave the commanding to the AI.
  • Choose from 6 unique locations to play on.
  • Immerse yourself in 3 engaging game modes.

  • As an alien, spawn and shift between 8 different creatures.
  • Characters, creatures and vehicles to control.

Official changelists for the builds of this game

Silica 1.0 Is Out Now!

Build 26334661

Commanders,

Silica's 1.0 release is almost here. Before we leave Early Access on November 3, we're running a sale so you can join the fight at a great price.
20% Off - One Week Only
From October 26 to November 2, Silica is 20% off.

If you've had Silica on your wishlist, this is a good moment to jump in.
What's Coming With 1.0
Silica has grown a lot since it first entered Early Access - the full story campaign, new units, new maps, new game modes, and countless changes driven by your feedback.
A Note on Pricing
As we initially promised with the release of Early Access in 2023, Silica's price will move to $24.99 / €24.99 with the 1.0 release on November 3.

We want to be upfront about it rather than have it catch anyone by surprise. The new price reflects the amount of content that has gone into the game over the course of Early Access, and it's where we feel Silica sits now that it's complete.

Picking it up during the sale means you get the full 1.0 experience at this week's price.
Already Own Silica?
Then you're all set - the 1.0 update comes to you at no extra cost.

Your friends can still grab it at a discount until November 2, though. The squad is always better at full strength.
See You on the Battlefield
October 26 - November 2: 20% off.
November 3: Silica 1.0 arrives, price moves to $24.99 / €24.99.

Cooperative Strategy Game Mode, Repairs & New RTS Tools Are Here!

Build 25179420
Hello everyone!

A new update has landed, bringing one of the most requested additions to Silica: Cooperative Strategy game mode, alongside a major overhaul of the Commander AI and a whole set of new command options for RTS players.

Fight Side by Side

The new Cooperative Strategy game mode lets you team up and take on AI-controlled forces together, with selectable difficulty so you can find the challenge that suits your squad.

This mode is still "work in progress", so expect it to keep evolving with your feedback.

A Smarter Commander AI

The Commander AI has received one of its biggest upgrades yet.

It now captures points of interest such as bunkers, expands its territory using Nodes and HQs, and dynamically creates unit groups while evaluating how well they perform in battle. Base attacks are properly staged before being launched, and if an assault starts taking too many losses, the AI will abort and retreat instead of throwing everything away.

It also builds and uses repair vehicles to support its attack groups and keeps its own structures repaired. The result is an opponent that feels far more deliberate and far more dangerous.

Repairs on the Battlefield

Two new units join the fight: the Repair Rig and the Repair Truck, both dedicated to keeping your vehicles in the fight.

Damaged armor no longer means a long trip back to base.

More Control for Commanders

This update gives Commanders a lot more direct control over the battlefield.

You can now command static turrets in RTS, select multiple production structures at once, and use the brand new unit order panel in the bottom right for commands like attack and move. Double clicking a unit selects every unit of that type currently on screen, and structures can now be sold instead of simply destroyed.

Infantry That Reacts

Infantry now respond to stimuli such as taking fire, seeking cover where appropriate, while bombers have improved approach and drop behavior, and the Dreadnought now circles its target.

Smoother Large-Scale Battles

We've also spent considerable time on performance.

Collision avoidance detection has been optimized for much better performance in battles with many vehicles, units and structures are now pooled ahead of use to reduce placement stutter, and building placement no longer causes a framerate hitch.

More Improvements Across the Board

Alongside these new features, this update includes a wide range of optimizations, gameplay improvements, bug fixes, and quality-of-life changes to make your experience on the surface even better.

Be sure to check out the full changelog below for all the details.

Haven't joined the fight yet? Grab Silica on Steam and see how these new systems play out for yourself.

See you on the battlefield!
