With this update we are bringing improvements to your Marketplace browsing experience. Previously, Marketplace images were downloaded every time you browsed. Now, they’re cached after the first download, so we’ll only download images that are new or have changed.

Along with performance improvements, Create a Sim (CAS) is getting some stylish additions, including new clothing especially designed to celebrate Sims of every size, plus an out-of-this-world hairstyle.

And of course, we are bringing some important bug fixes with this update.

What’s New?

Image Cache

The new Image Cache looks to improve loading times and reduce downloading of images across the Marketplace on subsequent visits, reducing the time needed to do a little window shopping or picking up that new Maker Pack you see everyone talking about.

If you run into any issues with Marketplace images, you can manually clear the image cache by opening the cheat console and running the cheat command:

• clearonlinethumbnailcache true

While our PlayStation and XBOX Simmers can’t peek under the hood at the cache directly, on PC/Mac you can view this cache by navigating to: 

• Documents\\Electronic Arts\\The Sims 4\\onlinethumbnailcache

The cache will also be automatically maintained 14 days after the last Marketplace visit and remove unused images and free up space on your storage device, and while the cache has an upper limit of 250MB the space the cache uses will generally be lower. 

New Size-Inclusive Styles

This base game drop enhances body diversity representation in Create a Sim by adding a new set of CAS assets designed to flatter Sims of all shapes and sizes. 

This drop contains 6 new CAS assets—from a versatile dress, tops, jeans, cardigans, shirts, and slacks—along with 5 new Styled Looks that use these items to help jump-start your outfit inspiration. 

We’re also adding 5 new Starter Sims, each created to showcase these new outfits and clothing options. In addition to finding these Sims in CAS, they will also be available on the Gallery so you can easily bring them into your worlds and give them a story!

New Afro-Textured Hair

Hair is, and continues to be, a powerful part of self-expression, and we know how much it means to you all to see more styles and textures represented in the game.

Our newest hair addition is an afro-textured hairstyle inspired by the art of natural hair sculpting... and it’s giving whimsical, cosmic beauty with plenty of main-character energy! We had so much fun developing this look that we couldn’t stop dreaming up different Sims to wear it. Now it’s your turn! We can’t wait to see how you style it.

Two New Kits

Bring iconic fashion to your Sims with two new kits: The Sims 4 Mean Girls Capsule Kit and The Sims 4 Clueless Capsule Kit. 

Channel teen royalty in glam Y2K looks inspired by Mean Girls, then serve totally iconic 90s style with chic plaid fits and trendsetting outfits from Clueless.

The Sims 4 Mean Girls Capsule Kit and The Sims 4 Clueless Capsule Kit will be available on  August 27, 2026.

Bug Fixes & Updates

• The layout of the pages in the Marketplace will now display correctly when entering from Create a Sim after installing a new pack obtained with Quick Buy.

Console

• Addressed one of our top PlayStation crashes which would appear during game launch. Thank you to all the PlayStation Simmers that took the time to provide additional information during the crash through the PlayStation reporting system.

• When scrolling with the Right Stick, the controls will no longer get stuck when browsing the Marketplace from Create a Sim.

• When scrolling with the Right Stick, the controls will no longer get stuck when reviewing the Pack Details pages in the Marketplace.

Memory Boost

• \[EA Forums] Thank you to everyone who shared save files. While this patch doesn't include additional changes for this issue, testing on player-submitted saves confirmed that Memory Boost resolves a memory-related crash that could occur when traveling after loading a save, though longer load times may still occur and similar but separate issues continue to be investigated in their own threads. 

Autosave & Save Reminder Updates & Fixes

• The Save Reminder Frequency Default is now set to be “Every 2 Hours” instead of “Off.”

• There is now more consistent visual feedback that an Autosave is occurring when exiting Build Mode or Traveling.

• We’ve addressed some issues where Autosave and Save Reminder timers would reset when traveling, causing them to not match the selected timing option. 

• \[EA Forums] We addressed an issue where manual saves could inadvertently override each other. This was happening when loading an Autosave Slot of a previously played manual save and then manually saving in the new save, because it would always save against the last manually saved manual save slot - even if it was a different save slot than the one currently loaded.

Marketplace

• Fixed an issue that could cause Discover menu tabs to misalign and show empty sections.

• A “Something Went Wrong” error should no longer appear when transitioning from the Gallery to a Marketplace page of a Kit or Pack that is no longer available.

• Fixed a Japanese text issue for PlayStation Simmers.

Basegame

• \[EA Forums] The countdown timer for Careers, School, and After School Activities is fixed and no longer stuck showing 0 minutes.

• This update contains a fix for crashes relating to caching. 

• \[EA Forums] We rebuilt thumbnails, which should address an issue for unentered premade houses on the map screen that were still showing roof edges from the previously fixed roof issue. This can still be addressed for all other lots by loading into the lot and leaving - we unfortunately aren’t able to force a thumbnail update for these lots since the data is saved locally.
