Immortals of Aveum

Immortals of Aveum is a first-person shooter developed by Ascendant Studios, the team founded by Bret Robbins (Creative Director of Call of Duty: WWII, Dead Space and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King). The game was published by Electronic Arts under the EA Originals program. The protagonist of Immortals of Aveum is Jak, a battlemage and elite triarch Magnus. To save the fantasy kingdom of Aveum from impending doom, he joins the titled Immortals, a magical order of protectors. To do this, he must uncover the secrets of the troubled past of this land, find out the cause of the bloody conflict called Evervar and put an end to it.

Although the game is described as a first-person shooter, Immortals of Aveum does not feature weapons. Using various seals, Jak can use blue, green, and red magic. These colors represent the elements. To succeed, the player must cast spells quickly and accurately, parry enemy attacks, and combine their magic into deadly combos. There are plenty to choose from, as Immortals of Aveum features over 25 spells and 80 talents. They can be improved on the skill tree and made even more powerful.

With their variety, it’s easy to customize your playstyle focusing on just one element, for example — and make it more effective with craftable magical devices such as seals, gloves, and rings. The game is semi-open, it has linear locations and nodal zones. The player can instantly move between them thanks to the fast travel system. This allows us to return to previously visited locations to solve all the puzzles, acquire missing or once inaccessible items, or talk to NPCs who have special answers prepared for us in case we return.
