Penkura introduces players to a distant alien world built on sci-fi concepts and strategic survival mechanics. The title combines several genres, including action, adventure, indie, RPG, and strategy. Players travel through an ancient singularity and end up on the mysterious planet Karenos, where exploration, base building, and resource management unfold in tandem. Combining a top-down real-time strategy (RTS) interface with first-person survival gameplay, the title offers a multi-layered approach to problem solving and discovery.

Penkura hybrid design challenges players to balance tactics and exploration, forcing them to experiment and adapt as they navigate uncharted terrain. As an explorer, players begin by building a base using the RTS interface. They control drones, collect tools, and unlock blueprints, creating the foundation for their survival. The game doesn’t hold the player’s hand, requiring them to master all the nuances, fighting off environmental hazards and potential threats.

Robots play a key role, acting as builders, gatherers, and defenders. The creation of specialized drones adds depth to the resource economy, turning routine tasks into strategic decisions. Losing equipment upon death forces gamers to be on their guard, placing an emphasis on risk management and preparation. The modular base-building mechanic also provides scalability, allowing users to expand their settlements, experimenting with layout and defense strategy.
