The Great War Western Front

The Great War Western Front is a World War I strategy game that uniquely combines turn-based grand strategy and real-time tactical battles, allowing players to experience the conflict from both a theater and a field commander’s perspective. Set on the Western Front from 1914 to 1919, players can choose to play as either the Allied or Central Powers, each with their own abilities and playstyle. The game features a dynamic battlefield system where previous battles leave indelible scars on the terrain, turning lush countryside into crater-filled quagmires, and weather conditions affect the effectiveness of units and artillery.

Players make complex strategic decisions, from constructing intricate trench networks and researching new technologies like poison gas and tanks, to managing resources and directing armies across the front. The game features four modes: a story-driven campaign, historical battles based on real-life events from World War I, custom Skirmish battles, and multiplayer matches. Developed by Petroglyph (known for Command & Conquer Remastered) and working with the Imperial War Museums to ensure historical accuracy, the game features authentic weapons, infantry, artillery, and tanks from the period.
