THE NEXT WORLD is an open-world cyberpunk RPG set in a dystopian Los Angeles in 2108, where you play as Dresden, a systems engineer who accidentally discovers a powerful secret that could destroy humanity. The game features a sprawling city with 92 explorable city blocks across 12 districts, each with unique characteristics and factions whose relationships with you depend on your actions and conversations. You can unlock various cybernetic abilities such as EMP blasts, the Glass Cloak, and the Adremium Engine, as well as an arsenal of weapons ranging from sniper rifles to anti-gravity guns.

The game features a variety of vehicles, including flying cars, motorcycles, and drones, which can be bought, stolen, or built. Your choices have a significant impact on the story, leading to 12 possible endings based on how you build relationships, complete missions, and engage in conflict with enemies, including the PXL police and bounty hunters (Ruiners). Created by Winteryear Studios Los Angeles, this deeply personal project was inspired by the developer’s loss of his mother to cancer.
