Even barking takes on tactical significance, allowing him to dispel incorporeal entities and distract material enemies. Exploration of interconnected locations is closely intertwined with solving puzzles that rely on interacting with the environment to advance the story.

Before beginning the adventure, you must choose the breed of your canine companion, as this choice directly impacts your playstyle. Over a dozen breeds are available, each with its own strength, endurance, and stealth characteristics. Depending on your preference, The Good Dog Chasing Shadows can focus on direct confrontation or stealth. The game offers several formats for immersing yourself in the story. Story mode is dedicated to free exploration of the world and uncovering the secrets of supernatural attacks. In Defense mode, you'll have to fend off waves of enemies invading your home. And the Hidden Object Challenge challenges you to make your way through abandoned locations, avoiding encounters with wandering phantoms.
