The Thing That Happened

The Thing That Happened is an open world, third-person survival adventure game set in a harsh post apocalyptic world. You play as Marcus Draven, the only survivor who finds himself in the ruined city of Jericho a ghost city filled with crumbling buildings, overgrown with vegetation and full of remnants of a lost civilization. In the game, special attention is paid to collecting resources, creating equipment and using a variety of weapons with nozzles to fight enemies.

The combat system includes skill trees for melee combat, allowing you to develop both hand-to-hand combat skills and ranged combat skills. Developed as part of an indie project by two people Mario Murkl and Zoltan Arva using Unreal Engine 5.2, the game combines resources from the marketplace and Sketchfab with an original design.

The eerie atmosphere and deserted surroundings of Jericho serve as the backdrop for Marcus's journey, filled with the struggle for survival and adaptation. The story explores themes of resilience and community cohesion, even in the darkest of circumstances, as you make your way through the harsh reality of this ruthless world. This is a survival test that will test your ability to adapt, recover and not give up in the face of insurmountable obstacles.
