Description
The New Beginning: A Surprise Visit is the first episode in a planned series of short, slice of life adult visual novels from Fresh Chapter Studios, which also publishes the title. Rather than one long campaign, the project tells focused stories about the main character and the women in his life. This opening chapter keeps its scale small, warm, and personal.
Months after leaving his hometown to start a new chapter, the hero receives an unexpected evening visit from a close female friend. The two have always shared a tight bond, and the conversation flows easily. The apartment feels lived in, and the comfortable silence between them says more than words. Yet tonight the lines between friendship and something more finally begin to blur. The player guides the night and decides how the morning after will look.
Choices shape the tone of the evening. A set of eight role playing options lets you define the personality of the protagonist, from cool and casual to guarded, flirty, or openly romantic. These decisions color each immediate reaction without changing the main story, so the experience stays intimate and directed by the player. Replaying the evening with a different attitude reveals new shades of the same scenes.
For a short episode, the production is generous. The chapter includes 620 high quality renders and 53 animations, wrapped around a story of about 5,000 words and 22 music tracks. A standard playthrough runs roughly 40 minutes, while lingering on the scenes can stretch the visit to a full hour.
One branching choice waits near the end. This final decision determines which of the two endings plays out, giving the episode a reason for a second visit and opening a series that will keep following the hero and the people closest to him. It is the kind of story that fits into one evening and stays in mind much longer.
