Urtuk The Desolation is a turn-based RPG that takes place in a gloomy low-fantasy world. You and your gang will travel through the ruins of the ancient world, loot, hire new followers. The world of Urtuk The Desolation is filled with darkness and suffering, and the main character, Urtuk, is mutated. If he cannot find a cure, then he is destined to die. Independent developer David Caleta decided to make a gloomy Valentine’s Day present by releasing his tactical RPG Urtuk The Desolation in early access. The game is perfect for those who do not like bright holidays at all, but still want to celebrate them alone with their beloved personal computer.

Get ready to escape from the God-forgotten sanatorium, where merciless experiments are being conducted for people, challenge hundreds of enemies that will haunt you everywhere, enjoy exciting battles and tons of available content, and also remember to regularly improve your personal abilities.

Installation Guide

Step-by-step setup process for CODEX

Open the .iso with a virtual drive program (e.g. Daemon Tools) — on Windows 10/11 a double click mounts it on its own.
Install the game by running setup.exe and following the wizard.
After installation, copy the entire contents of the CODEX folder from the disc into the game folder and agree to replace the files.
Start the game through its usual shortcut, preferably as administrator.

Having trouble launching the game?

Check these common causes before troubleshooting further.

The steam_api64.dll and other files from the CODEX folder are the heart of the release — if your antivirus removes them, restore them from quarantine and exclude the game folder.
CODEX releases run fully offline. For safety, block the game .exe in your firewall so it never tries to reach Steam.
Errors about missing d3dx9_43.dll or MSVCP140.dll mean the runtimes were skipped — install everything from the disc's Redist or _CommonRedist folder.
