Description

WanderWoods — is a relaxing game about calm exploration of a beautiful procedurally generated forest. Take a relaxing walk, explore the bush or ride a horse along the forest’s many paths. During the 2020 COVID pandemic, the developer of this game spent a lot of time walking the dogs in the forest near his home. He saw how he changed at different times of the day and depending on the season. He was comfortable walking along familiar paths, there was excitement when looking for new ones.

About This Game

He knew it was an experience with which he needed to do something. WanderWoods is a humble attempt at replicating this. This first version of the game is pretty basic, but the developer has some fun ideas to add over time. Finally, WanderWoods will probably require a fairly powerful computer as there are many trees and grass in the game. Low quality graphics options are present that the developer hopes will help a little, but he will find out if he can optimize the game in the future.

Installation Guide

Step-by-step setup process

No installation is needed — this release is fully pre-installed and ready to play, so you can skip setup wizards and long updates entirely.
Extract the archive (RAR/ZIP) to a short, Latin-only path like C:\Games\GameName using WinRAR or 7-Zip — and never launch the game from inside the archive, as that is the top cause of launch failures.
Launch the game via Run Me!.bat (or the main .exe file) in the game folder. If nothing happens, right-click it and choose Run as administrator.

Having trouble launching the game?

Check these common causes before troubleshooting further.

Install the required runtimes if the game reports a missing DLL or fails to start: Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (x86 and x64) and DirectX Runtime. If the release includes a Redist or _CommonRedist folder, check it first.
Check Windows Security quarantine if files are missing after extraction. Restore only files you trust, then add the game folder to exclusions if necessary.
Use a short Latin-only folder path, for example C:\Games\GameName. Avoid Cyrillic characters, very long paths and special symbols.
Run the game from its main executable after extraction. If nothing happens, try Run as administrator and check the full FAQ for the exact error message.

Still not working? Find error-specific fixes and runtime guidance in the FAQ.
