Steamroller Animation is a studio that has created animations for Fortnite, Dauntless, Mortal Kombat 11 and many other games. Now the company is preparing to release its first game, the creation of which took seven years. Curse of the Deadwood formerly known as Deadwood The Forgotten Curse is an action shooter with asymmetrical gameplay and two-player local co-op. The game takes place in the fantasy world of Nottington. When an ancient spell is broken, a curse falls upon the land. Deadwood is a race of wood zombie-like monsters. A young Woodling named Lathe must stop them. He teams up with Rogard, a mysterious stone giant.

The story comes to life with fully voiced cutscenes. The gameplay of Curse of the Deadwood is unique due to the symbiotic and asymmetrical nature of the characters. Lathe rides on a stone giant and fires ranged weapons, the giant relies entirely on melee attacks. Thus, the two heroes work together to defeat the threat of Deadwood. Each Lathe ranged weapon has an upgrade tree, so it looks like the single player game will be more focused on ranged combat than melee combat.
