Loretta is an adventure game made in the style of a psychological thriller. It is inspired by film noir of the 1940s and 1950s, the masterpieces of Alfred Hitchcock and the 1922 novel by Stephen King. The game was developed by indie developer Yakov Butuzov and published by Dangen Entertainment. Loretta is set in 1947. The main character of the game is Laura Harris, who moved to a farm with her husband, a writer named Walter. Problems caused by the family’s financial difficulties, suspicions of her husband’s infidelity, and finding out that although she sacrificed everything for her partner, she does not love him at all, push Laura to develop an insidious plan.

Walter has a life insurance policy and in the event of his death, she will receive $30,000 in compensation. Therefore, Laura decides to kill her husband and get rid of the evidence, and the player, in some way, becomes her accomplice. Following Loretta’s storyline, we talk to characters, interact with objects, and make numerous decisions. Our actions and choices determine the course of the story and affect its ending, determining the fate of Laura and other characters. It depends on us whether we commit one crime and try to hide it at any cost, covering our tracks and getting rid of evidence, or whether we throw ourselves into a maelstrom of bloody murders, trying to eliminate everyone who has any suspicions about the main character. The graphics in Loretta are made using the pixel art technique. Some variety is provided by more detailed, static boards representing the characters and the specific events in which they take part.
