Like a Dragon Ishin — is an action-adventure game that is a spin-off of the Yakuza series. The game is a remake of the 2014 Yakuza Ishin and both games were developed by the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio team. The game takes place in Japan in 1867, in the city of Kyo, which is a fictional version of Kyoto. Like a Dragon: Ishin tells the story of the end of the samurai era, and the main character is Sakamoto Ryoma, a historical figure who played a key role in the overthrow of the shogunate. Ryoma goes to Kyo in the footsteps of the killer of his mentor.

His only lead is a little-known but highly effective fighting style used by the assassin. The school where these techniques were taught was closed, but the protagonist learns that his students ended up in the aforementioned city. Interestingly, although Ryoma is a historical character, in the game his appearance and personality are modeled after the main character of the main parts of the series, that is, Kazuma Kiryu, and during the course of the campaign we also meet other characters who alternative versions of characters from modern parts of the series.

About This Game

Like a Dragon Ishin is an adventure game in which we explore a small open world filled with missions and quests. In addition to the extensive main campaign, the authors have prepared a lot of optional side adventures. At the heart of the gameplay is an extensive arcade combat system that allows you to use four different styles and techniques. In skirmishes, the main character uses mainly swords and fists, but there are also firearms. As the game progresses, we can develop the skills of the hero, physically strengthening him and teaching him new attacks. In addition to the clashes, the game offers many challenges, usually in the form of various mini-games such as singing, dancing, gambling, fishing, cooking, or cock racing.

All these activities are accompanied by separate stories, often not related to the main plot. As befits a remake, compared to the original, the game has significantly improved graphics. The updated version was built on the Unreal Engine 4. Is the first part of the brand that does not use the proprietary technologies of the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio team. It is worth noting that in the remake, the faces of many characters were changed in such a way as to resemble heroes from parts of the Yakuza series that came out after the release of Yakuza Ishin in Japan.
