Description

Hull Rupture is a grim strategy game about survival inside a gigantic ship that cannot be stopped under any circumstances. Earth has been destroyed, the crew is trapped inside a living mechanism controlled by a Despot AI, and all that lies ahead is an endless flight to an enemy planet. The player must simultaneously maintain the systems, repel alien invasions, and decide what to sacrifice to continue the mission resources, speed or people.

There's a constant shortage of energy, materials, and manpower inside. Some modules produce resources, others repair the hull or supply defense systems, but any error quickly leads to new problems. While the crew struggles to keep the ship moving, the aliens breach the hull, climb inside, and force a rapid restructuring of defenses right in the middle of a crisis.

The constant pressure is palpable. You cant simply set up defenses and forget about them enemies become more dangerous, routes change, and decisions constantly require sacrifice. Sometimes you have to risk part of your crew for fuel or choose a route through a particularly dangerous sector simply because you no longer have the resources to take a safer route.

Demo Patch v0.10.12 — Rat Turret & Improved Kit Randomization

v0.10.12

[c]Positive feedback proves I’m right. Negative feedback means there’s a problem with the feedback system.[/c]

Hi everyone!

It's been almost two weeks since we've updated the demo and you've been absolutely crushing it (and occasionally crashing it, but we're working on that)! We're reading all your feedback very carefully, and it's awesome to see that most of you are enjoying the changes! It feels like we're heading in the right direction.

Before we address some of the most common feedback, here are the patch notes:

  • We've added the Rat Turret. When it hits an enemy, it turns the target into a rat.

  • We’ve changed how randomization works in the shop and the Despot’s Chamber. You’re now much more likely to find a module kit you haven’t seen yet during the current run, and less likely to receive one that dropped recently.

  • We’ve fixed a few more bugs. For example, this should no longer happen (even if you secretly wanted it to):

We also want to address a couple of the most common points from your feedback.

"It's hard to get the module I need with the new shop."

The changes to randomization should make repeated kits less common. Please let us know whether this feels better after the update.

For the full release, we’re also planning to add more modules that can produce the same resources in different ways. For example, there could be a module with a switch that lets you choose which Uncommon resource it produces.

That said,  containers with module kits are still meant to be a central part of the game and its balance, so we’re not going to fundamentally move away from them.

"I'm experiencing performance issues in-game."

“Performance issues” can refer to several different problems, so here’s where we currently are:

  • Bugs that cause performance issues — we're gradually finding and fixing these, and the work is still ongoing.

  • Slowdowns after wave 40 — we didn’t expect so many of you to get that far, and we’ve now realized that we missed the mark with the Endless Mode balance again. Valuable lesson for us! At release, Endless Mode will be a separate mode with its own settings, which will allow us to balance and optimize it separately.

  • General performance before wave 40, without any bugs involved — we don’t want to make any promises just yet. We are working on performance, but right now our main priority is finishing all the gameplay systems needed for release.

Thanks for sticking around. Please let us know how the demo plays after this update!
