Description

STAR WARS: Galactic Racer is the first big Star Wars race in more than twenty years, created by Fuse Games with the support of Lucasfilm Games. The lawless Outer Ring, illegal speeder races and a young pilot who put everything on the line for the sake of a place at the top. The last big Star Wars racing game was 2002's Star Wars Racer Revenge, and it all started with the legendary Star Wars Episode I: Racer. Galactic Racer continues this line, but shifts the focus: instead of racing capsules, high-speed speeders are in the spotlight, and old acquaintances like Sebulba and Ben Quadinaros appear among rivals. The British studio, founded by the authors of Burnout and Need for Speed, is responsible for the development, and Matt Webster is in charge of the project.

After the fall of the Empire, the galaxy only the Galactic League comes to its senses, and on the outskirts, far from the eyes of the New Republic, the Galactic League is flourishing. This is an underground tournament where pilots are sponsored by criminal syndicates, the stakes are huge, and the mistake is too expensive. Newcomer Shade enters the league not only for the sake of fame and money he has his own accounts, and the way to them is through victory. The story campaign is arranged as a series of races: each attempt to climb the tournament the ladder develops differently, and the defeat is not the end, but an occasion to try again, using the experience gained. Tracks pass through different planets both completely new and familiar from films and forks allow you to choose a route right on the way to the race. Rivals can and should be rammed and pushed out of the way, so that every race turns into a fight. In addition to the campaign, the game has network races.

Installation Guide

Step-by-step setup process for Hypervisor

  1. Extract the archive to any folder — the game ships pre-installed, no setup wizard involved.

  2. Run VBS.cmd with "Run as administrator" — read the information it displays carefully before proceeding. Once complete, your PC will restart automatically.

  3. During the restart a blue "Startup Settings" screen appears — press F7 (or the 7 key) to select "Disable driver signature enforcement". Windows will then boot normally.

  4. Launch the game from the game folder — the main .exe inside it — with Run as administrator.

We’d like to thank all of our players for their feedback on Star Wars: Galactic Racer™!

For our first quality-of-life update, we wanted to address the feedback we’ve heard from players regarding Party size in online multiplayer, feedback from our mouse & keyboard players, along with a few additional changes and bug fixes along the way that we wanted to prioritise.

Please Note: After you download and install the update, please check your vehicle customization for the campaign, as we have seen instances of this resetting after the update.

Increased Party Size

Thanks to all those players who reached out to us to let us know that they wanted to share their experience of playing Star Wars: Galactic Racer with more of their friends in online multiplayer. We wanted to bring this update to you as soon as we possibly could.

The Party size in online multiplayer has been increased from 3 players to 6 players in this quality-of-life update. We can’t wait to see you challenge more of your friends in multiplayer Tours and hear your stories in our community spaces and watch along online.

Keyboard Layout Presets

We know that the lack of key re-binding support in the game is impacting the experience of our mouse & keyboard players. We've added multiple keyboard layout presets to support AZERTY keys and left/right-handed play as part of this update.

This is the first step towards addressing this feedback and one that we were able to implement quickly. Key rebinding support is on the horizon and will be included in a future update.

This quality-of-life update also includes the following:
  • An increase to the number of credits you receive when you join mid-Tour in online multiplayer from 4,000 to 6,000.
  • Transition tidy-ups for Spectator camera view in multiplayer.
  • Removal of the option to ‘Exit the game’ in the multiplayer menu on PC to stop accidental quits.
  • A number of party stability fixes.
  • A fix for a PS5 connection issue.
  • A fix for an issue that would cause an AMD Frame Interpolation game crash.

Авторы также добавили несколько предустановленных раскладок клавиатуры и исправили ряд технических проблем, но полноценное переназначение клавиш пока остаётся в разработке.

Обновление стало реакцией на отзывы игроков после запуска игры. Увеличение размера группы позволит собирать больше друзей для участия в многопользовательских заездах. Кроме того, разработчики повысили количество кредитов, выдаваемых при подключении к уже идущему онлайн-заезду: вместо 4000 игроки теперь получают 6000. Также улучшена плавность переключения камеры наблюдения в мультиплеере.

Отдельное внимание уделили управлению на ПК. Поскольку возможность самостоятельно переназначать клавиши пока отсутствует, в игру добавили несколько готовых раскладок, включая AZERTY, а также варианты для правшей и левшей. Разработчики признали, что отсутствие гибкой настройки негативно сказывалось на удобстве игры, и пообещали добавить полноценное переназначение клавиш в одном из будущих обновлений. Конкретные сроки пока не объявлены.

Патч также исправляет проблемы со стабильностью игровых групп и подключением на PlayStation 5. Кроме того, устранён сбой, возникавший при использовании интерполяции кадров AMD. На ПК из меню мультиплеера убрали пункт «Выйти из игры», чтобы игроки случайно не закрывали игру во время сетевых сессий.

При этом разработчики предупреждают о возможном побочном эффекте обновления: после установки у некоторых игроков могут сброситься настройки транспортного средства для кампании. Поэтому авторы советуют проверить конфигурацию своего аппарата перед продолжением прохождения.

Команда поблагодарила игроков за отзывы и заявила, что продолжит работать над улучшениями. Пока это первый этап доработки игры после запуска: часть пожеланий уже учтена, однако одна из наиболее востребованных функций для пользователей клавиатуры и мыши ещё ожидает реализации.
