SILENT HILL 2 Remake

SILENT HILL 2 Remake is a remake of the cult survival horror from the 2000s. Unreal Engine 5 is responsible for the visual component in this reimagining of the classic. Thanks to it, the title can boast improved graphics and updated special effects, including improved fog. The third-person view has changed noticeably. The developers did not transfer the fixed camera to the new sequel. Now it is located behind the character, as in today’s AAA horrors, allowing users to watch what is happening from behind the protagonist’s shoulder. The developers also abandoned the combat system of the original. Instead, they wanted to rework the combat and some other elements to meet modern gaming industry standards.

The studio tried to make the product more attractive to young players, while trying not to forget about long-time fans. Sounds and music were re-recorded. Music and sound accompaniment was again entrusted to composer Akira Yamaoka. The plot of the Silent Hill 2 remake follows the original game. The writers tried to stick to the canon without changing anything radically. The story is again dedicated to James Sunderland, whose wife has died. One day, he receives a letter from his dead wife with an offer to visit their special place. After that, the man goes to a town called Silent Hill.

Near the lake, he meets not his beloved, but a woman who looks and sounds very similar to her, who says that her name is Maria. To understand the lore and the narrative, it is not necessary to play other video games of this franchise. However, for those who launched them (especially the original second part), the creators added a lot of references and Easter eggs. They also decided to carefully rework the main gameplay. The usual SH came to computers as a port from consoles. Its remade version was immediately developed as a multiplatform.
