In most games you play the hero. In this one you write the hero. Talespinner is a deck building roguelike adventure from Flash Cat Games, published by Kwalee, set in a world woven from Japanese mythology where the storyteller holds the pen, and the pen decides who survives.

Every story needs a hero, and the game offers three to choose from, each with distinct gameplay mechanics and a card set that upgrades as you play. Runs grow stronger through the synergies you forge, shaping a deck until it starts telling its own version of the tale. As the storyteller, you guide the narrative through decisions and deck construction, and no two tellings run alike.

The adventure itself is yours to choose. Perhaps your hero is pursued by a ninja clan led by the famous Hanzo Hattori. Perhaps they venture into the mountains to track down Yuki Onna, the ice lady who haunts the local population. Every scenario carries its own story twists, adding layers of challenge and replayability to the same mythic ground.

The storybook is your tool and your weapon. It lets you dictate the hero's encounters, modifying challenges to ease the way forward or raising the stakes for greater rewards. Yokai fill the roads, each with a diverse set of skills, and the game leaves the method to you: crush them in decisive combat, or make them your allies through charm and cunning. Both answers are valid, and neither is safe.

The journey crosses biomes worth the detour: bamboo forests, mysterious caves, windy plains, haunted villages and temples. Each environment brings its own events and enemies, and hostile forces can interfere with your hero's cards in battle, keeping the turn based combat strategic rather than routine.

Talespinner suits players who love deck builders with personality: roguelike runs shaped by choice, a mythology full of creatures worth negotiating with, and a story that remembers who is holding the pen. Pick your hero, open the book, and find out what kind of tale survives the telling.
