Abashed

Hi everyone!

After years of work, countless sleepless nights, and more than a few moments of doubt, Abashed is finally out now on Steam!

I honestly don't know where to begin.

What started as an idea has grown into something I've poured so much of myself into. As a solo developer, I've worn almost every hat imaginable while bringing this game to life. From writing Issac's story and building its world to designing puzzles, creating its art, figuring out all the little details in between, and collaborating with some incredibly talented creatives to bring its vision to reality. It's been a long, challenging, and incredibly personal journey.

So what is Abashed?

Abashed is a short 2.5D psychological adventure with horror elements, inspired by games like Silent Hill, Night in the Woods, Until Then, etc. You play as Issac, a man dealing with psychosis. One day, waking up all alone, he sets out to find his missing partner, Cassi. You get to literally bend reality, solve puzzles, and meet mysterious characters as you try to find the truth behind it all!

I also want to take a moment to thank you for being a part of this journey. To everyone who played the demo, shared feedback, added the game to their wishlist, featured it in showcases, or simply sent a kind message along the way. Your support has kept me going more times than you probably realise.

And to those who have been waiting for today's launch, thank you for your patience, especially after the unexpected delay. Getting here wasn't quite the journey I had planned, but I'm incredibly grateful that we made it.

This game means a lot to me, and I hope there's something in it that stays with you long after the credits roll.

Steam Deck support + what's next?

While the game is playable on a Steam Deck, I'm working to get it Steam Deck Verified. If you own a Steam Deck and are facing any form of issues, please let me know through the Steam discussions or in our Discord.

I'll also be closely looking at your feedback and improving the game continuously so you get the best experience possible.

Hey everyone,

Unfortunately, I have some disappointing news to share. Abashed's launch, originally planned for today, November 4, has been delayed due to pending approval from Steam, which is taking much longer than expected.

After years of pouring my heart and soul into trying to tell a story that matters to me, this is honestly heartbreaking.

What's Happening?

The game has been waiting in Steam's review queue for two weeks now. Despite the usual estimated review timeframe being 3–5 days (up to 7 days if feedback is needed), I haven't received any response or update so far.

I've been holding out hope that the review would come through in time for launch, but unfortunately, I can't release the game until Steam completes its approval process.

The last few days have been incredibly stressful as I'm stuck twiddling my thumbs waiting for any response. I've noticed more devs experiencing similar things as the platform is being filled with a huge amount of low-effort games.

This isn't how I imagined launch day going, and I'm just as disappointed as you are.

What now?

I'll share a new release date as soon as I hear back from Steam and have a clearer picture of the timeline.

Right now, all I can do is wait, as this situation is completely out of my control.

In the meantime, I will continue to push fixes and improvements wherever possible so that you get to experience the best possible version of the game.

I hope you'll keep looking forward to unfolding the story of Abashed with me, and we will finally get to celebrate the launch of the game together, whenever that might be. ❤️
