Description
Apopia Sugar Coated Tale is an adventure game with puzzles, mini games and dark secrets, in which young Mai tries to find her way home and understand her past. At first, a warm hand-drawn world filled with unusual talking animals opens before the player, but gradually, behind its external charm, a much darker side is revealed. Mai's fuzzy memories hide the truth about her personality, and moving forward requires not only solving mysteries, but also the ability to find a common language with the characters.
The study of the world is constantly changing thanks to different types of work. In one episode, you need to look for a solution to a puzzle, in another, you play a mini game or use rhythmic tests, and light action elements help to diversify the usual research. The ability to read thoughts plays a special role: the internal experiences of the characters turn into separate game spaces through which you can learn more about their characters and what is happening around Mai.
Encountered animals can become both friends and enemies, and each character has its own individuality, secrets and role in what is happening. More than a hundred unique animations complement the hand-drawn world, and music and carefully selected movements of the characters enhance emotional moments. Gradually, the calm fairy tale atmosphere collides with the dark worlds located under the familiar environment, and May has to collect lost memories in order to get closer to the solution of her own personality.
