Description

Lord Castleon made a turn based strategy game called CastleOn where you travel back to the late twelfth century to build medieval fortresses and survive the brutal third crusade. You get to control kingdoms and fight through huge economic and military campaigns across more than fifty missions spanning from the reign of the leper king all the way to the holy land. Right on this catalog page you can check out the system requirements to see if your computer can run it plus you can look at the latest screenshots and watch actual gameplay videos to see the sieges in action.

The gameplay goes surprisingly deep since you can only place three buildings every single turn and each peasant you bring in consumes five food units daily so managing the economy requires real planning. You can research over ninety distinct upgrades in the massive tech tree to unlock stone towers and nasty traps like boiling oil pots or rolling logs while picking from five religions that grant ten unique abilities each. This hub lets you track the latest version of the game and read the fresh patch notes to see exactly what the creator fixed or improved as you recruit templars and mamluks to crush rival lords on fifty different skirmish maps.

Peaceful mode in Skirmish

Build 25693154

In FAQ I mentioned that you can play skirmish mode completely peacefully but somewhere along the way I completely forgot about that... well, that's fixed now!

New Peaceful skirmish option has been added under Options -> Gameplay. Once turned on, enemies will not send any armies at you in Skirmish mode. This does not affect military campaign. It also does not affect enemies currently on your castle map.

You can use peaceful skirmish mode with any difficulty, and it works on premade maps, randomly generated maps, and any custom maps you make!

You can also toggle it whenever you want - so if you want 30 turns to build up a massive fortification on the highest difficulty and then get attacked, you can do just that. Simply enable this option at start and disable it after move 30 and voila!

Windowed mode bugfixes

Build 25439481
  • Game no longer crashes after windowed mode goes berserk and starts constantly reducing ui scale into negative. If game used to crash for you, this should also fix it without the need to delete options.castleon file

  • Clicking on difficulty settings no longer reduces window mode resolution

  • Fonts are no longer blurry when resizing window to smaller size

  • UI scale now properly applies and text should always be readable
