ToHeart

ToHeart is a visual novel that follows the life of a high school student as winter turns to spring. The story introduces an ordinary young man as the protagonist, whose daily life consists of hanging out with his friends Akari, Masashi, and Shiho. Their time together forms the basis of the story, starting with morning walks along the cobblestone streets and moving on to class discussions under the warm sun. The world here features futuristic technology, including autonomous robots as members of society, in an otherwise familiar 1990s setting.

The game tells its story through animated 3D scenes and features voice acting in Japanese, English, and Chinese, allowing for different ways to experience the dialogue. ToHeart is played from a first-person perspective, allowing the player to experience the world through the eyes of the protagonist and through his internal monologue.

The decisions made in this title are the centerpiece of the interactive story, guiding the conversations and events of each day. Each choice has consequences, influencing relationships and opening up different storylines with the title’s characters. The tone ranges from lighthearted comedy to dramatic moments, reflecting the complexity of friendship and budding romantic interests. This system of choices and consequences leads to several different endings, with each ending being a direct result of the player’s journey.
