SILENT HILL 2 is a horror game in a mysterious setting. Three years ago, James Sunderland’s wife died of an illness. Suddenly, he receives a letter from her inviting him to meet in a town called Silent Hill. One day, the hero promised to take his beloved wife there. Now she is waiting for him at the appointed place. Discouraged by this news, the man goes to the mysterious town to find out what is hidden behind the message of a long-dead woman. One look at the streets is enough to understand that it has long been abandoned, and the houses keep many secrets. The story in the second part is completely repeated. For variety, the developers introduced several new plot twists and puzzles. The story is told through dialogues. The creators dedicated one of the stories to the antagonist nicknamed Pyramid Head Monster. The story of his origin is somehow connected with the fate of the main character.

The developers did not transfer the fixed camera to the new sequel. Now it is located behind the character, as in today’s AAA horrors, allowing users to watch what is happening from behind the protagonist’s shoulder. The developers also abandoned the combat system of the original. Instead, they wanted to rework the combat and some other elements to meet modern gaming industry standards.
