Mala Petaka is a retro first-person shooter inspired by 20th-century science fiction. The gameplay follows classic patterns: you need to kill enemies, collect various items, find keys to locked doors, and so on. The gameplay fundamentals are borrowed from the Doom series, and the visual style is inspired by games from the 90s. The arsenal of weapons consists of mega-powerful guns, some of which have an alternate fire mode.

Ross 128-B, a new colony on the edge of occupied space. It is known for its beautiful red sun, changeable politics and, until recently, independence. Out of desperation, Ross had just signed a treaty with the Solar Dominion Force, offering economic control of his planet in exchange for some of the SDF’s arsenal. The planetary government seems to be having trouble with the local energy cult, so the SDF sends a legion of recruits to investigate.
