Outbuddies — is a side-view adventure action platformer in a sci-fi setting. You have to explore Bahlam, the sunken fortress of the Old Gods, located deep in the southern Atlantic Ocean. After the shipwreck, the marine archaeologist and adventurer Nikolai Bernstein regains consciousness at a depth of 36,000 feet under water. He is seriously wounded and in search of answers the main character sinks into the depths of a lost city, gradually realizing the ominous presence of unknown creatures.

About This Game

Overview

The unusual Outbuddies metro line in the spirit of Celeste, which was developed by just one person for several years. Its creator does not hesitate to call the ideological inspiration of Outbuddies, which became: Super Metroid, Castlevania, Super Mario Bros. and Mega Man.

Outbuddies tells the story of the marine archaeologist Nikolai Bershtein, who crashed and woke up at a depth of 11,000 kilometers in the sunken city of the Old Gods. Nevertheless, the hero does not die, but on the contrary — he feels more alive than all the living ones, and still receives a companion drone. Together they go to study a living, open world, made in the best traditions of pixel graphics. All this happens under the cool 16-bit soundtrack from OGRE. Outbuddies players are waiting for amazing boss battles and even a local co-op.

OUTBUDDIES Build 1.46 is Live!

Hey my buddies! Build 1.46 of OUTBUDDIES is live! You may need to restart your Steam Clients for this update to be registered.

DESIGN FIXES

New wall jump input: Close to a wall, any horizontal joystick input + jump will now execute the wall jump. So the common input most games use [push towards wall + jump] is now supported as well.
Improved early game tutorials: Adjusted some pictorials, especially the ones explaining hacking were very confusing. The OUTBUDDIES Wiki can now also be called from the main menu, providing in-depth explanations and GIF images of the game's mechanics and controls.
Two more hacking protocols were hidden to enable reaching level 6 now (Red Hat Achievement). I had messed the protocol count up, sorry for that.

Here are the hints for those completionists.

The first one is hidden in the perfect room to hide an Easter Egg
The second one is where all the other eggs are

Btw. the map-progress achievements are still broken and removed on Steam, I'll fix it ASAP.

BUGFIXES

Mashing buttons in tubes and during screen transitions could lead to game-breaking wall glitches
Heavy impulses close to the ceiling could lead to wall-glitching
The Nocturne Boss could be glitched to death by pausing the game in a specific sequence
Collecting missile tanks before the launcher still was not robust to sequence breaking
Rare bug in the loading routine granting you weapons you don't own yet
