The plot of Farewell North covers the fate of two characters — an elderly woman and her dog. The user is asked to control a pet, represented in the form of a border collie (a breed of dog). It will be possible to move around spacious island locations, initially painted in dark colors. There is a small area around the protagonist that can paint nearby objects in their natural colors. The primary task is to open memories and gradually return color to the environment. There are mechanics related to interaction with «frozen» animals. If a character touches one of these, they will come to life again and add more color to the world. Accordingly, it is necessary to search for such representatives of the fauna in order to ultimately turn the islands into flourishing and colorful places. Sometimes it will be possible to open memories regarding what happened in this territory in the past.
