CleanFall puts the player in charge of a cleaning robot whose sole function is to keep the house clean. This simple task becomes a planetary mission after a techie brings the world closer to its sun. The resulting cataclysm covers the surface in a swirl of dust and death, making cleaning impossible. To clean up its home again, the robot must first fix the entire world, descending into the planet's underground layers to begin its work.
Survival in the dungeons of CleanFall relies on the player's engineering skills and ingenuity. The robot assembles mobile combat platforms to combat the hordes of creatures that inhabit the depths. An alchemy system allows you to combine defense turrets to create advanced weaponry from drone factories to mortars. Gameplay involves tunneling through procedurally generated rock to infiltrate dynamic ecosystems, where exotic organisms exhibit behaviors that allow you to gain an advantage in each run.
Resource gathering involves harvesting flora that grows among the underground rocks, with each plant providing special effects to combat the inhabitants of the depths. The mechanism itself is transformed from a standard model into a machine of destruction thanks to a system of perks. These improvements affect speed, energy consumption, structural strength and production. Each new game session reveals details of the plot of the past apocalypse, and ultimately this game introduces a conspiracy that has been in the making for 2 centuries.
