Highguard is a multiplayer raid shooter where the primary objective for dominance on a mythical continent is capturing enemy bases. Confrontations unfold between squads of so-called Guardians, skilled marksmen possessing arcane knowledge. The setting combines elements of high fantasy and science fiction, reflected in the characters' available arsenal and abilities. Mounts, including eagles, and airships are available for movement through the locations. The environment is destructible to a certain degree, opening up tactical opportunities for the attacking side. The central element of matches is the struggle for possession of an artifact called the Shield Breaker. Having secured it, the team moves from direct combat to a raid on the enemy citadel.
