Adaptory is a unique blend of simulation and base building, in which you control four procedurally generated survivors of a spaceship crash-landed on an uncharted planetoid. Your primary goal is to keep the crew alive by providing for their basic needs and uncovering the wreck's secrets. The game uses a sophisticated physics engine that simulates nearly fifty different materials, allowing for creative problem-solving through realistic interactions with gravity, temperature, and various substances.

Base building plays a central role in survival, requiring players to construct and eventually automate living quarters, life support systems, and power plants. Dynamic events like meteor showers and solar flares create unexpected challenges, and the crew members personalities, skills, and relationships add depth to their interactions and journal entries.
