Zombie Graveyard Simulator features a dual operating cycle: during the day, players handle burials and cremations, maintain graves, attend to visitor requests, and tend to crops. As night falls, the focus shifts entirely to defending against attacks from the walking dead, requiring the construction of barriers to preserve the day’s work and save oneself. This shift in activity forms the core of the process.

During the day, Zombie Graveyard Simulator primary duties include preparing the bodies of the deceased and ensuring that visitors are happy. Visitors visit the gravesites, and keeping the plots clean and stocked with fresh flowers generates income for the business. These duties also include fulfilling special orders for flower arrangements or monuments. However, as darkness falls, the situation changes; while the deceased lie quietly, the undead begin to act, targeting the recently buried remains and the player themselves.

To repel attacks at night from the growing hordes of the undead, among which there are also special varieties, it is necessary to build defensive fortifications. These can be simple barriers like barbed wire and fences, as well as automated turrets; all of this requires timely repair and replenishment with ammunition. In battles with evil spirits, an arsenal is used, including pistols, rifles, shotguns and a reliable shovel. As the game progresses, access to new weapons opens up, which can be purchased, while simultaneously improving combat skills; control over the consumption of ammunition remains an important part of survival.
