WAR RATS The Rat em Up is a hand-drawn side-scrolling shooter that combines tower defense and RPG elements with brutal 90's action. You lead rat armies in the post-apocalyptic world of Ratopia against the TechnoRat, a cyborg consciousness bent on turning all flesh into metal. Gameplay combines strategic troop management with intense gunplay as you fight your way through enemy-controlled areas to TechnoRat’s headquarters.

Combat revolves around recruiting and commanding over 20 different rat squads and an arsenal of 20+ weapons across 12 unique maps. You’ll build defensive structures like turrets and walls, earning credits to upgrade your gear and abilities between runs. The game features roguelike progression, where dying means spending your hard-earned currency on permanent upgrades for future attempts.

Several difficulty modes cater to different skill levels, including an Iron Rat mode for hardcore players who start over from level 1 upon death. New Game+ features procedurally generated missions that are different each time you play through, expanding replayability beyond the main campaign. Skirmish mode allows you to practice on any map with customizable opponents, and the upcoming multiplayer will support co-op rat warfare.
