House of Legacy begins as rebel forces breach the city's defenses, forcing the player to lead the remaining kin on a journey that promises many difficulties. They find refuge in the county seat, the last untouched corner of the turmoil, where the foundations of a new dynasty are laid. This journey becomes the starting point for the formation of a significant dynastic influence capable of standing firm in a world transformed by strife.

The steps taken from this point on determine the future fate of their family. Within House of Legacy, gamers have access to a range of options for building their own fiefdoms; using various architectural elements, they equip their settlement. Interrelations form a significant part of the gameplay: numerous representatives of dozens of other aristocratic families open up prospects for alliances or involvement in feuds that stretch over long periods of time.

The administrative mechanism offers the chance to move up the hierarchy of positions, reproducing a system of promotions and competition. This mechanism introduces multifaceted processes of leadership and diplomatic relations. Strategic management becomes paramount when protagonists direct military units into battles and suppress rebellions, strengthening the stability of the established dominance.
