Gales of Nayeli is set in the world of Yuwen, a land facing a spreading plague that is turning the forest spirits hostile. In addition to this ecological disruption, pirates and bandits threaten the Solans region with increased aggression. A dark omen hangs over the sands of Nare, a land still marked by the recent extermination of the Naga people. Nayeli, the future chieftain of the Gaowaga tribe, leaves her home on a mission to stop these events, seeking to unite a group of allies to restore order.

At the core of Gales of Nayeli is a turn-based strategy game played on grid-based maps. Players form and command a party of over 35 characters, including heroes with LGBTQ+ backgrounds. The decisions made throughout the campaign directly impact the story, creating branching paths and outcomes with long-lasting consequences. Party composition and dialogue choices determine access to resources and narrative elements later in the conflict.

Character progression goes beyond simply increasing their stats numerically. As combat experience increases, fighters unlock entirely new skills and expanded movement options on the tactical grid. The player actively participates in this process of improvement. Choices made at key moments in the narrative can unlock unique skills for certain companions. Furthermore, this tactical game allows you to use collected scrolls to train any member of your party, providing a direct method for customizing each warrior's role in battle.
