Yakuza 0 Directors Cut is an expanded edition of the crime drama, revealing the backstories of two iconic characters from the franchise. Set against the backdrop of Japan's economic euphoria in 1988, the story takes place in the neon lights of fictional Tokyo and Osaka. The narrative focuses on two protagonists: Kazuma Kiryu, a young member of the Tojo clan, is falsely accused of murder, while Goro Majima, a cabaret manager, is ordered to eliminate a defenseless girl but decides to protect her. The fates of both protagonists become intertwined around a fierce struggle for a small plot of land known as the Empty Lot. This version of the project is enhanced with previously unseen scenes and the Red Light Raid multiplayer mode, where you can battle waves of opponents.

Yakuza 0 Directors Cut offers not only a tense story but also a deep dive into asset management. Besides street fights, a significant portion of the game's time is spent developing side businesses: Kiryu is buying up real estate in the Kamurocho district, while Majima runs his own cabaret club in Sotenbori. The combat system offers variety by switching between three unique styles for each character. Kiryu's arsenal includes balanced, power, and speed styles, while Majima relies on unpredictable techniques, including using a baseball bat. All ability upgrades are purchased with money earned in battles or through entrepreneurial activities. Exploring detailed urban locations offers numerous ways to escape the criminal underworld. The open world is filled with side quests and a variety of mini-entertainments, allowing you to experience the atmosphere of the era.
